STAGE FLASH 8
Les Kolczak
6 December 2008, 10:57 am
Day: 2 Flash: 8 Special Stage: SS9 Resolfen 1 Distance: 30.68Km
Weather: Clear
Road Conditions: Slippy and icy in places

4: Jari-Matti Latvala/Miika Anttila
"Being first on the road is not so nice in the morning here as it is impossible to find the braking points. No chance to go faster."

1: Sebastien Loeb/Daniel Elena
"There are a lot of very slippy places in there, I don't like them. There's not a lot the tyres can do in places like this. I was aquaplaning yesterday. We need gravel crews."

12: Per-Gunnar Andersson/Jonas Andersson
"It was very very icy in there and we lost our speed near the end. There are big puddles in places and I had lots of moments in there."

18: Mads Ostberg/Ole Kristian Unnerud
"Half way through the stage our engine failed and although we restarted I don't think we can get to the next stage as there is something wrong. We are losing oil. I think I have to retire."

5: Petter Solberg/Philip Mills
"I don't have the feeling on the road yet, but I have a good time here and I keep pushing. There is room for improvement. I lost all feeling on the road half way."

2: Dani Sordo/Marc Marti
"That was not bad. It is really difficult to see in places, but OK, we are happy with that time."

7: Francois Duval/Denis Giraudet
"It is quite loose in there now, and getting quite muddy. The demister on the driver side is not working and it is hard to see."

14: Henning Solberg/Cato Menkarud
"I try my best but it is very slippy now."

3: Mikko Hirvonen/Jarmo Lehtinen
"There were so many rocks we don't know where they are so we had many big moments in the end."

8: Matthew Wilson/Scott Martin
"Very difficult conditions. Ogier's car is about 2kms from stage end."

11: Toni Gardemeister/Tomi Tuominen
"One minute it was good grip in there and then it was ice. Very tricky in there."

20: Barry Clark/Paul Nagle
"Nice start to the morning. A couple of slides in some corners but happy with the run - not too bad. Hopefully the sun will get round and dry out some of the icy patches later."

16: Conrad Rautenbach/David Senior
"We went off on a corner and the spectators managed to get us out. It is really nice in there but suddenly it can all go wrong if you are not careful. You can't take anything for granted on these stages."

19: Khalid Al Qassimi/Michael Orr
"That was OK, but I lost some time 4kms from the beginning because it was slippy in places."

22: Gareth Jones/Clive Jenkins
"It looks wet but it's actually ice and the braking areas can catch you out. We went off twice but managed to keep it together."

46: Valentino Rossi/Carlo Cassina
"This is the best stage, with better conditions. Not as much ice, so we try to go faster today."
