  • Ticket sales up 60% compared with 2007
  • Friday's mid-Wales stages prove popular
  • "Kids for a Quid" ticket offer for the Cardiff stage at the Millennium Stadium and Swansea's SA1 ServicePark
Spectator ticket sales for December's Wales Rally GB are already 60% ahead of comparable figures for this time last year.
In particular, the "Kids for a Quid" ticket offer for seats in the upper tier of the Millennium Stadium to watch the flat-out Cardiff Special Stage on Saturday 6th is proving to be very popular. The first rally car leaps into the indoor Cardiff Special Stage at 18.00 on Saturday 6th. Prior to that there will be an hour of stunning, fast-moving entertainment designed to appeal to all ages.
"Kids for a Quid" tickets are also available to families who plan to visit the ServicePark in Swansea's SA1 Waterfront development on Thursday 4th, Friday 5th, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th December.
Well up on sales is the go-everywhere World Rally Pass (WRP) which, at £90 for an adult, half price for children aged 9 to15, represents best value for money and in real terms costs no more now than it did in 2005. The WRP provides access to all forest special stages (with the exception of the Millennium Stadium), Service Park and Shakedown.
Sales of Friday Day Passes are also up, influenced by the inclusion of historically popular special stages in mid Wales that have not been used since 2000. The Hafren, Myherin and Sweet Lamb forest stages near Llangurig in Powys will feature many of the classic rally routes over these fast flowing gravel roads as well as new sections giving spectators plenty of viewing choice.
"Naturally we are very pleased to announce ticket sales are considerably up compared with this time last year, but we appreciate our "Early Bird" offer of reduced priced World Rally Passes has encouraged spectators to buy much earlier than in previous years. The best value for money is the World Rally Pass and, as these are limited in number, I would recommend anyone contemplating buying one to do so early - they have sold out in recent years", said Andrew Coe, Chief Executive of the rally organisers.
Access to the Ceremonial start in Cathays Park at 18.00 hours on the evening of Thursday 4th and the Finish, in the same location, at 14.50 on Sunday 7th is free.

Wales Rally GB is the British and final round of the 15-round FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). It is one of only four events that have retained their unbroken World Championship status since the WRC was established in 1973.
Cardiff first hosted the rally in 2000 and the Welsh Assembly Government has supported the event since 2003. The City and County of Swansea has provided the ServicePark since 2001.
WRGB is the finale of the Tesco 99 Octane British Rally Championship (rounds six and seven) and the eighth and final round of the FIA Production World Rally Championship.
Wales Rally GB is held annually and is the UK's biggest motor sport event. It is organised and promoted by International Motor Sports Ltd (IMS), the commercial arm of the Berkshire-based Motor Sports Association (MSA), the governing body for all UK motor sport.
For 2008 Wales Rally GB has become the first round of the World Rally Championship to offset all its carbon emissions, including all spectator travel. The event has been awarded CarbonNeutral® event status, confirming that the event's carbon footprint is now 'net zero'.
