Tension is building ahead of tonight's special stage in Cardiff's Millennium Stadium. Although the stage is the shortest of the event at just 1.1km long, it provides a fantastic spectacle as competitors compete in front of 25,000 fans. With the engine notes echoing around the stadium and off its closed roof, the atmosphere is electric.

Adding to the spectacle, fans will be treated to several shows in the build-up to the rally arriving from 6pm. Highlights include a cops and robbers chase, a stunt driving display and a celebration of 75 years of Britain's biggest rally.

There will also be an emotional tribute to Britain's two World Rally Champions, Colin McRae and Richard Burns, both of whom have passed away in recent years. Leading a display of some of the rally hero's cars will be Colin McRae's father, Jimmy.

Following that, at 7pm the first World Rally Car is set to burst into the stadium and kick the action off Ex-world champion co-driver Phil Mills, who partners Subaru's Petter Solberg, said: "With the roof closed to keep out the November chill, it's the only indoor stage in the entire championship.

"For a Welshman like me to compete on a rally inside one of the world's best sporting arenas, in the centre of Cardiff - well, it doesn't get any better than that. "It's not the longest stage of the event, but it is the most fun."
