The 2006 Wales Rally GB helped raise £10,000 for the Wales Air Ambulance, thanks to collections made by the Richard Burns Foundation at the Cardiff Stage at the Millennium Stadium.
Since its inception in June 2006, the Richard Burns Foundation has raised over £130,000 for good causes all over the UK. In keeping with the Charity aims the Foundation has donated to the Youth Cancer Trust to aid the care and quality of life to those people affected by serious illness. By donating to the Wales Air Ambulance the Richard Burns Foundation are supporting the care of those who are affected by serious illness and injury.

The Wales Air Ambulance work closely with rallying; and are regularly on call during club, national and international events that take place throughout the year in the Welsh forests. Due to the remote nature of the Welsh forests the Air Ambulance is essential to get the help to the victims within the all important golden hour. The cover provided and quick response times would not be available by road.

The Richard Burns Foundation (www.richardburnsfoundation.com) would like to say a big thank you to the Wales Air Ambulance for their continuing support of the motorsport community in the past and long into the future.

In addition, the annual Rally Forum and Motorsport Auction in Welshpool organised by the 2003 World Rally Champion Phil Mills, from Newtown, raised £16,000 and the Gravel Girls calendar raised £10,000. Both these funds were donated to the Wales Air Ambulance, bringing the three rally-related donations to an impressive, and much needed, £36,000.
