4: Jari-Matti Latvala/Miika Anttila
“I tried to drive as fast as I could but on that last stage I was just too cautious. This rally has made me mentally strong but the best man has won, and I send him my congratulations.”

1: Sebastien Loeb/Daniel Elena
“It has always been in the back of my mind that I haven’t won this rally. This is the perfect end to my year – and a great relief. It has been a good journey and a really good way to end the season like this. It is incredible and good for the rally to have such a close fight with Jari-Matti and to win by just 2.7 seconds is absolutely fantastic.”

2: Dani Sordo/Marc Marti
“That was a great performance by the team. We have got the Championship and I am so happy. That is all that matters.”

5: Petter Solberg/Philip Mills
“There was no chance on the ice to close the gap. It hasn’t been the best year but we have seen in Japan that we have taken real steps forward. I am sure there will be some wins next year if we have more grip. The first rally next year is Ireland and it is only gravel. I want to do it now! I don’t want to have a break. I am all fired up!”

Paul Howarth, Team Manager, Subaru World Rally Team
“I still think Petter can be competitive. We just need to give him the tools to allow him to do the job.”

11: Toni Gardemeister/Tomi Tuominen
Team manager: “We are delighted with the position we are in. We didn’t expect to be here in this position so it is great for the team - but there is still work to be done for next season. Our plans for next year are as yet unconfirmed. We are waiting for confirmation but we really hope we can carry on. The registrations for the 2009 season need to be in by 15th December.”

7: Francois Duval/Denis Giraudet
“Not too bad this weekend. I still hope to be in WRC next year.”

12: Per-Gunnar Andersson/Jonas Andersson
“We are very happy to be in fifth position on the rally. It was definitely the toughest event I have done and on the last two stages the engine was making all sorts of funny noises.”

3: Mikko Hirvonen/Jarmo Lehtinen
“I am very pleased to have finished, even if the result is disappointing. The season has been very good and I thank the team for putting me here and helping take the title fight almost to the end. The whole team will be stronger next year. The car has been faultless with no problems to slow us down. The best moments were in Turkey and at times in Finland. Scoring points in every round has been fantastic. I know I can be consistent and still have the speed and still intend to be a champion with Malcolm (Wilson).”

20: Barry Clark/Paul Nagle
“A fantastic result – on three WRC events this year we have managed to get into the top ten. We are over the moon. It has been a great challenge to be up here mixing it with these guys. We are really happy with our times and performance which were spot on. Next year with the economy the way it is we are unsure with budgets under pressure. We are working so hard to raise the money to get more experience. It gives me particular satisfaction to be in the top ten on this event as we have not been relying on other people to drop out to get the result. Our split times have been particularly good. I have been knocking on sponsors' doors to get more coverage and people are starting to know what we are capable of. Its is getting in touch with the right people."

46: Valentino Rossi/Carlo Cassina
“Happy, happy! That was great. It has been a great weekend and we put in some good times on the last stages. It is a step by step process. I have a great team and have had an enjoyable time and I would love to come back next year if that is possible but that is not decided yet.”

17: Sebastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia
“This weekend has been crazy for me. To have finished in the lead after day one I was really surprised but stayed calm. Yes there have been good and bad bits, but I have another drive for Citroen next year and I can look to fix those mistakes quickly. I have had a wonderful time here in Wales."

8: Matthew Wilson/Scott Martin
“Disappointed to be honest. It would have been nice to have had a higher finish to the season but we got round in one piece and half way though the rally I knew that this was just going to be a learning experience. Would I change anything? Yes but I wouldn’t be able to without getting the experience. Hindsight is a wonderful thing.”

19: Khalid Al Qassimi/Michael Orr
“When you are trying to go fast and reach a higher level you realise that you cannot always be cautious and that is the lesson from this year. It has been a fantastic 2008 and I started with no hopes of results but have improved after every rally. I never stop learning and the spectators are beginning to know me and my country. Today’s goal was surviving and finishing the rally and I know you have to push the limits to learn more.
“This rally has been hard for all of us, especially drivers like me who have never experienced conditions like this, let along driving a WRC car in them.”

23: Steve Perez/Paul Spooner
“We came back with an oil problem and had a quick oil change with a new filter which cured the problem. It is bad enough trying to do these stages anyhow without having to worry about looking at the gauges all the time.
“We had a puncture on the second run though Rheola and have been bouncing off banks all the time. I have had more offs on this rally than in the whole season with all the cars. It is all about getting away with it. I have learned from this event how much to appreciate the level of ability that the top guys have. It shows how extremely talented they are.
“We are very pleased to be in a position where we are one of the best non professional drivers at the end.”

21: Eamonn Boland/Damien Morrissey
“This is my first gravel rally in eight years and I haven’t learnt anything new. To be honest it has been a waste of money so I will stick to tarmac from now on.”

41: Andreas Aigner/Klaus Wicha
“The last stage was murder. I checked the trip clock and the kilometres couldn’t go past quick enough. To win this is so important for my family, my team and my sponsors. I have had a hard two years of learning but I know that I can only get better.”

44: Patrik Flodin/Goran Bergsten
“I was very worried about Sandell and have just found out now that I have won so am delighted. It has been a hard weekend and I have to thank my mechanics for helping me clinch the title this afternoon.”

60: Guy Wilks/Phil Pugh
“It has been a hard weekend and a hard championship, and not an easy year. It stalled in the middle of the year and it is nice to finish with a win, I have had two good co-drivers especially when we had to regroup after the problems with the Trackrod rally. There will be a few drinks tonight and that will involve champagne. It is good to defend the title back to back although not such a good year in terms of results.
“There is nothing to tell you about next year yet, and until I am sitting on the start line I won’t believe we have a deal. I never gave up on this rally. Many times we have fought back to take some valuable points.”

59: David Higgins/Ieuan Thomas
“I am really gutted and don’t know what to say. We should have done a lot better to be honest. I am going to have to go away and have a think and get back next year refreshed.”

42: Bernardo Sousa/Jorge Carvalho
“It has been a good season for us. A bad day yesterday when our transmission failed but that wasn’t our fault. I have to remember this is my rookie season and to get a top ten finish in the championship is good for us. We never thought we would finish so well, so it has been a good start to our rallying career.”

49: Simone Campedelli/Danilo Fappani
“We improved step by step and stage by stage and today on the second run we went quite well. The important thing was to learn this type of special stage and we are happy to have achieved that. Our results on the individual stages were good and we were always in the top five. We hope to continue in 2009 again with the Mitsubishi. We were very happy with the performance.”

47: Jaromir Tarabus/Daniel Trunket
“We hit a bridge on the final stage which burst a right front wheel and that damaged the steering. We will have a look before the road section because we really want to get to Cardiff. This has been a dream for us. Our first real championship and we have had a fantastic time. We want to come back next year.”

37: Spyros Pavlides/Steve Lancaster
“It was very hard but I would never have expected sixth place on Friday. On the first stage this afternoon I had a slight moment which lost us 30secs. You can imagine how pleased we are.”

67: Hermann Gassner Junior/Katherina Wuestenhagen
“We had a puncture on the second last stage and I was very happy to finish but on the final section we had to be sop careful. The turbo pipe has not given us any more problems so it is a relief to be OK.

72: Ryan Champion/Anders Howard
“We are so happy to be here. It has been a very tough event. Going through Rheola both times was difficult with so much ice and that really knocks your confidence. I am delighted with the performance. To get 22nd overall is incredible - I am delighted.”

94: Thomas Cave/Gemma Price
“It has been a totally brilliant experience and one I shall never forget. To win the class is a total bonus and very unexpected. I would like to thank my parents, Gemma and my mechanics for helping me. I cannot wait for the next season to start and must thank the people of Wales for all their support.”

69: Daniel Unger/Sebastian Itu
I am so happy to be here. It was very hard for us and I never thought I would see conditions like that. To be honest it was not a good choice with the tyres but everyone had the same rubber on the same road. The first stage this morning was too risky.”

81: Emre Yurdakul/Can Erkal
“It was much harder than last year. It was a very fast icy rally this time. We came here for the title so we didn’t push. My job was to keep my team mate behind. Now we have finished in front I am champion. This is the happiest day of my life. We hope to do R2 next year.”

83: Luca Griotti/Corrado Bonato
“Delighted to finish. This is our first time in Wales and we have never driven on ice before. I would like to thank all the spectators as we need them a few times. They were all so helpful – we would love to come back next year.”

95: Neville Jones/Ian Capewell
“Not too bad, not a bad day out of the office. It is a shame we went SupeRally yesterday but the conditions weren’t great. We had a good time, and are delighted to be back in one piece.”

84: Burcu Cetinkaya/Cicek Gumey
“The last two stages were much better. We didn’t push too hard and it was good to have fun over the jumps. It is frustrating because we could have won. I want to do the Junior championship next year so we shall see.”

98: Darren Jones/Paul Burley
“I am really happy because it has been six months of hard work to get the car ready. We had two days of really good days and the stages were amazing. It is a beautiful day.”

97: David Harrison/Glyn Thomas
“I think this has taught me how much mental preparation you need to do this. We spend twelve hours a day in this car and it has taken it out of me.”

88: Deividas Jocius/Mindaugus Varza
“That was hard! We would love to come back next year. The atmosphere was perfect and we would like to thank the crowd for all their help.”

89: Gordon Nichol/Emma Morrison
“We are delighted with that. We were catching cars which was great and to come second in class is great news. We want to come back next year.”

79: Andrew Hockridge/Rich Mills
“This is the best day ever. It was our first time on Rally GB and a real learning curve. We want to come back next year and do better, even though it was a hard rally.

75: Peter Stephenson/Kim Baker
“Today has been the best out of them all. We came here with a new navigator and we worked well together. We are happy and already look forward to next year.”

203: Alan Paramore/James Dempsey
“I had a fantastic time – we put on a bit of a show for the crowds. The Land Rover was fantastic but to be honest I quite fancy doing this in a rally car. I would love to try it.”
