Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena (Citroen C4) took no risks in Sunday’s third and final leg to record their third consecutive Rally Mexico victory and move into second place in the FIA World Rally Championship after three of 15 rounds.

Chris Atkinson partnered by Stephane Prevot (Subaru Impreza) took a hard-earned second place - his best ever WRC result - despite suffering with a migraine and managing only three hours' sleep prior to the final leg.
Swedish Rally winner, Jari-Matti Latvala, had lead until SS 10 and was in contention for victory until a turbo pipe broke in Special Stage 13, leaving his Ford Focus without full boost and consequently down on power. Without the opportunity for a replacement to be made until the end of the day, he lost over two minutes, but held onto third place.
His fellow Finn and BP Ford Abu Dhabi Team mate Mikko Hirvonen started the final day fifth, after losing time through punctures on both Friday and Saturday. Fastest time on the penultimate stage moved him ahead of Norway’s Henning Solberg.
Stobart VK M-Sport’s Matthew Wilson (Ford Focus) was classified sixth, despite a stone-throwing incident which damaged his windscreen in SS13 and spinning and stalling the engine in his Ford Focus on Saturday’s final stage. The 21year old young Cumbrian, partnered by Scott Martin, earned their first WRC points of 2008, finishing almost 13 minutes ahead of Munchi's Federico Villagra (Ford Focus), the Argentinean equalling his career best result in seventh.
Petter Solberg and his Welsh co-driver Phil Mills endured a fraught rally. They drove their Subaru Impreza out of SS10 with a broken front drive shaft, losing over four minutes. They re-started under SuperRally rules to claim the final manufacturers' point in 12th, despite a front right puncture on the penultimate stage and a spin on the 20th and final Special Stage.
