Wales Rally GB’s ‘Art Car’ wins Gold
Last night (Friday 1 December) it was announced that Wales Rally GB’s public relations agency Prova PR has won a Gold award at its coveted industry awards for the initiative Art Car, a competition which invited school children nationwide to design the livery of a car competing in the event.

The awards which are organised by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR) showcase the best PR work being carried out across all regions of the UK.

Prova undertakes the consumer PR for Wales Rally GB and in 2006 introduced the initiative Art Car to the event. The competition was an overwhelming success, receiving backing from the secretary of state for education, Alan Johnson and rector of the Royal College of Art, Sir Christopher Frayling.

Due to the huge success of Art Car last year, the competition has been re-launched. This year’s talented winner is 12 year old Glen McDonald from Great Yarmouth, whose ‘Carbon Footprint’ design has been applied to the bio-diesel fuelled Vauxhall Astra driven by brothers Steve and Tony Graham.

“We are overjoyed with the news that we have won a Gold award,” explained Prova’s managing director Richard Postins. “Art Car was a fantastic project to work on and got a huge number of school children involved in Wales Rally GB. It has been a privilege to run the competition again this year and I would like to say a big thank you to both Steve and Tony Graham for putting their car forward and to our winner Glen for creating the eye-catching design.”

Watch the Art Car in action at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium tonight, Saturday 1 December. Gates open at 4.30pm. Tickets are available from the ticket office at gate 3 of the Millennium Stadium in Westgate Street.
