Wales Rally GB - bring the whole family!
Tickets now on sale!
5 June 2008, 10:00 am
Tickets are now on sale for this year's Wales Rally GB, the final round of the FIA World Rally Championship. Once again ticket prices remain low, starting from just £1 and organisers have created a number of exciting ticket offers which will appeal to dedicated fans, first-time rally goers and families alike, for the event which is being held from 4-7 December.
For 2008 one of the biggest ticketing discounts is on tickets for children, with the new ‘kid for a quid’ initiative. This applies to upper tier Millennium Stadium seats as well as entry to the service park in Swansea. This ensures this world-class event is an affordable option for families; a rare phenomenon in the sporting world.

The Saturday evening special stage inside the Millennium Stadium promises to be the ultimate spectator experience, boasting international rally stars, a world-class stadium, and full entertainment package. The evening will begin at 5pm with an hour long family orientated entertainment package prior to the competitive rally stage. Tickets will be available on the day but huge savings of up to £10 per ticket can be made if purchased in advance - a family of four can attend from just £28.

The World Rally Pass – which allows access to Shakedown on Thursday, all forest stage car parks on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and the Service Park in Swansea on all four days – still represents the best value for money for those wanting to enjoy the whole event. The cost remains the same as last year - £90 for an adult and £45 for a child. This year if purchased in advance - before August 1- spectators will save £10 (children £5) and receive 10 per cent off official rally merchandise.

Day Passes will be available for each of the four days, starting at £15 for an adult and £5 or a child. All must be purchased in advance, although the Thursday Day Pass can also be bought on the day at the Service Park in Swansea and at Shakedown. In addition all adult tickets purchased in advance come with a comprehensive, full colour official programme worth £8.50.

Andrew Coe, Chief Executive of event organiser International Motor Sports (IMS) Ltd. said: “I am delighted with our ticket offering to spectators for this year’s event. We have worked hard to keep prices low and continue to attract spectators to Wales Rally GB, one of the world-leading sporting events that we are lucky enough to host here in the UK.
“This year’s ticket offers, particularly the child tickets for £1, give families the chance to enjoy a world-class sporting event at the Millennium Stadium for an affordable price. To get the most out of our ticket offers make sure you purchase tickets in advance.”

For 2008 Wales Rally GB has been awarded CarbonNeutral® event status, confirming that the event’s carbon footprint is now ‘net zero’. All spectator travel has been offset, so those travelling to the event you can rest assured their impact on the environment has been taken care of.

Since its inception in 1932 the rally has been run 63 times; this year's event will be the 64th edition. Enforced stoppages have included World War 2, Suez Crisis (1957) and Foot and Mouth (1967).

Wales Rally GB is the British and final round of the 15-round FIA World Rally Championship (WRC). It is one of only four events that have retained their unbroken World Championship status since the WRC was established in 1973.
Cardiff first hosted the rally in 2000 and the Welsh Assembly Government has supported the event since 2003. The City and County of Swansea has provided the Service Park since 2001.
WRGB is also the sixth and final event in the Tesco 99 Octane British Rally Championship and the eighth and final round of the FIA Production World Rally Championship.
Wales Rally GB is held annually and is the UK’s biggest motor sport event. It is organised and promoted by International Motor Sports Ltd (IMS), the commercial arm of the Berkshire-based Motor Sports Association (MSA), the governing body for all UK motor sport.
