Stage Flash SS17 - Trawscoed 2 - Driver Comments
Did you know:
There is only one all-lady crew (Car No 104).

Leg: 3
Flash No: 19
Special Stage: SS17 Trawscoed 2
Distance: 28.24km
Weather: Intermittent showers
Road Conditions: Slippy, muddy

1: Sebastien Loeb/Daniel Elena
“Incredible, hey? When I started ten years ago we had nothing and now I have four world titles. It’s a very good feeling to win this year, as I’ve had a very hard battle with Marcus. To win by four points is a really good moment. This was my hardest battle for a title, for sure. It was exciting all the time during the year.”
Loeb climbed onto the roof of his car after crossing the finish line.

2: Dani Sordo/Marc Marti
“I tried before the rally to reach the podium but unfortunately I couldn’t. The conditions made it very difficult.”

3: Marcus Gronholm/Timo Rautiainen
“I am disappointed, of course, but okay, it has been a difficult rally. We lost the title in Ireland. Will I come back? No, it’s okay, I’ve had enough.”
New world champion Sebastien Loeb made a point of shaking Gronholm’s hand after he had finished the stage.

4: Mikko Hirvonen/Jarmo Lehtinen
“We went off. I hadn’t planned it. It was such a stupid place. I went straight on and had to do a 360 degree spin turn in the forest. This season has been fantastic. This is the best possible way to go into 2008. Yes, I’m ready to be team leader. Next year is my chance.”

5: Manfred Stohl/Ilka Minor
“I expected more from this weekend before the event. It is not what I hoped for, especially when you look at where I finished last year, in second.”

7: Petter Solberg/Philip Mills
“Ok, we did our best and teh team has worked very hard to get on top again. We are working for next year now as this championship is very important to Subaru.”

8: Chris Atkinson/Stephane Prevot
“I’m disappointed with this rally and the whole season. I hope everything works out next year. There’s a hell of a lot of work to do still, but everyone back at Banbury is working hard at it. I just want to fight for first rather than tenth.”

9: Jari-Matti Latvala/Miika Antilla
“Yes, it was bad what happened on Friday, but this is one of the best moments of this rally, having set so many fastest times. Ireland was great, but this has been something very special.

10: Henning Solberg/Cato Menkerund
“We are here at last and have finished the rally. We hope to be in a good position. It has been a good year for me in the championship. Now let’s see if we can go even better next year.”

16: Matthew Wilson/Michael Orr
“I’ve delighted with another points-scoring finish. I’ve never driven so slowly in the UK, as this result was there to lose as well as win. I lost my rhythm a bit today. A lot of things will change before Monte Carlo and I can’t wait to carry on with this year’s momentum. This result is as satisfying as my fight in Japan. I had nothing to gain and a lot to lose. It was nail-biting.”

17: Xavier Pons/Xavier Amigo
“I am not happy. Okay, I had lots of problems with my wipers and no traction, but I’m still disappointed with the result. It’s a rally I like – and last year it was good to me.”

18: Jan Kopecky/Filip Schovanek
“I am very happy to have made the finish. Let’s see what I do next year. Maybe Skoda will offer me something in Super 2000.”

20: Mads Ostberg/Ole Kristian Unnerud
“These stages have been very tough. There is some blue smoke coming from the engine, but it would be bad luck if it stopped now – We’ve had a small oil leak since Friday.”

22: Gareth Jones/David Moynihan
Unconfirmed reports suggest the car stopped in the stage but is now continuing slowly.
