Leg: 1
Flash No: 4
Service: A

20: Mads Ostberg/Ole Kristian Unnerud
“It was very rough in that first stage of the rally and in SS2 the car started to misfire and has been running rough ever since we came out of SS3. We’re looking into it now at Service and hope to have the problem fixed.”

22: Gareth Jones/David Moynihan
“We lost a lot of time in SS3 because our wash jets broke which meant that all the mud on the stage got smeared across the windscreen and we couldn’t clear it.”

23: Mark van Eldik/Michel Groenewoud
“Lots of fog on the first two stages which lost us some time but other than that, no major problems to report.”

54: Gabriel Pozzo/Daniel Stillo
“The going is good so far but it is easy to make a mistake in conditions like this.”

34: Mark Higgins/Scott Martin
“We had a puncture 4kms from the end of SS2 which cost us some time. Thankfully my collarbone is OK now after breaking it in October.”

47: Andreas Aigner/Klaus Wicha
“We had a puncture in SS2 and drove 12kms on it. This is our first time on Rally GB and even though it is a big test I am really enjoying it.”

21: Andreas Mikkelson/Ola Floene
“We had a puncture on SS2 and again on SS3. The car is new to me and I am finding it difficult to drive.”

24: Conrad Rautenbach/David Senior
“We are taking it slowly – it’s a big learning curve for me. The car is great on the fast stuff but difficult on the corners. I have only had 150kms of testing.”

45: Mirco Baldacci/Giovani Agnese
“In the first stage I lost 5th gear which cost me some time and it’s only here at Service that we can look at it and get it fixed. I hope!”

46: Armindo Araujo/Miguel Ramalho
Car has written on the side in marker pen: ‘Pedal to the metal, trust in the Lord.’ When quizzed about it, driver said: “That is what my engineer is always saying to me! It’s going OK but we had a problem in the last stage because we lost our washer jets.”

50: Patrik Flodin/Maria Andersson
“Our times are not too bad so far but I am still not 100 per cent happy with the car.”

59: Guy Wilks/Phil Pugh
“I like this ham sandwich more than I like the mud out there. We need to up the pace a little bit this afternoon – the car has a little bit of oversteer.”

53: David Higgins/Ieuan Thomas
“We are treading very carefully in there after our spin in SS1.”

51: Martin Rauam/Kristo Kraag
“It’s a disaster so far! We had a puncture on SS1 and the car fell off the jack and then got trapped under the car. The next two stages were bad, as I had no confidence in the car after that. I’ve never done this event before and I am trying to stay positive.”

42: Evgeniy Vertunov/Georgy Troshkin
“We had a problem in SS2 when both our wipers and our wash jets stayed on permanently...”

44: Alessandro Bettega/Simone Scattolin
“This is our first time in the car and we are still learning the ropes.”

43: Claudiu David/Mihaela Beldie
“It’s not going so well in there because of the weather and it’s not made better by the fact that the car doesn’t have full power.”

81: Robert Swann/Dann Garrod
“The stages are cutting up so much.”

101: James Wozencroft/Christopher Ridge
“I’m driving steadily, but I still took 16s off George Thomas on stage two.”

104: Lorna Smith/Joanna Oakley
Is out of the rally for the day, but will SupeRally tomorrow.

98: Melis Charalambous/Mark Crisp
“I’ve had a reasonable run today. I’m still getting over the shakedown, when I got the back wheels on the grass and flipped round. I ended up wedged in the stage, blocking it.”

85: Shaun Gallagher/Clive Jenkins
“I rolled the car in stage one and the car is a mess, but I hope the damage is mostly cosmetic.”

100: George Thomas/Graham Hopewell
“I lost the intercom in stage two and was driving on sight. In stage three the intercom worked intermittently, but it doesn’t help your confidence.”

105: Hugh Evans/Iestyn Williams
It was okay until stage three, when we had an overshoot and then the turbo went. It’s a huge challenge.”

106: Matt Beebe/Gareth Roberts
“My overalls are covered in mud – I’ve been rolling in it! I was going through stage one non-competitively when I heard a noise. The brake calliper had come off. I got it back in with a bolt that was the wrong size and a cable tie, so I was waiting for it to fall off again. Amazingly it didn’t, but I was just waiting for service, really. Lorna Smith is my main championship rival and she’s out, so I just need to keep it tidy.”

113: Martin Laverty/Andrew Roughead
“The brakes are a bit too much to the rear, so we’re sliding a little.”

108: Stephan Davis/Neil Foulkes
“I’m not happy. I’m having engine and pacenote problems.”

125: Luke Pinder/Martin Taylor
“I’m normally in a Ka, so the MG is very different. It’s a whole new ball game. The fuel light has just come on too – I’m surprised how much fuel we’re using.”

130: Steve Graham/Tony Graham
“I need a boat, not a rally car! We went in a ditch for a minute in stage one, but I made sure I found the hamster before we left. I couldn’t go without my lucky mascot.”

131: Fin McCaul/Neil Burgess
“We’ve got a broken radiator. About a quarter of the way into stage three we spun. The car is a bit damaged at the back but we don’t think it was in that spin – we don’t know when we did it!”
