A major link road connecting the M4 motorway with Cardiff City Centre has reopened – just in time for tonight’s Wales Rally GB ceremonial start.
A stretch of the westbound carriageway of the A48 Eastern Avenue had been closed since Tuesday, but it has fully reopened sooner than expected.

This is great news for rally fans who will be making their way to Cardiff City Hall in Cathays Park for the ceremonial start of Wales Rally GB, the final and deciding round of the 2007 FIA World Rally Championship.

Entertainment starts tonight at 6pm when the world’s top rally drivers meet the public at an autograph session.  Rally cars from seven decades celebrating the 75th anniversary of the event will be at the start, as well as motorsport celebrities. The first competing rally car over the ramp, which is located next to Winter Wonderland, will be at 7.30pm.
