A live music stage headlining Amy MacDonald, courtesy of 96.4 FM The Wave and 1170 AM Swansea Sound, stunt driving, ViperJet boat demonstrations, a big screen with the latest rally news and a large trade area will be just some of the great attractions at the all-new Wales Rally GB Service Park at SA1 Swansea Waterfront.
The highlight will still be the 100 + cars and drivers that are contesting the final round of both the FIA World Rally Championship and the Tesco 99 Octane British Rally Championship, and in addition there will be lots of other entertainment planned for all four days that the rally visits SA1 – Thursday 29th November, Friday 30th November, Saturday 1st December and Sunday 2nd December – which will appeal to motorsport fans and families alike.
On the live music stage, Amy Macdonald will be the headline act on Friday evening, courtesy of 96.4 FM The Wave and 1170 AM Swansea Sound, as she adds SA1 to her sell-out UK tour. Gates open early on Friday, as the first rally car makes its first visit of the day to SA1 at 09.10. After 12 hours of action (see below), Friday’s entertainment will come to a spectacular finale with a huge fireworks display.
Swansea-based percussion and dance group Samba Tawe will also perform live on stage on Friday and Saturday evenings, while Wales Rally GB’s 75th anniversary celebrations will continue throughout the three days with some of the most famous drivers and celebrities interviewed on stage.
Spectacular stunt driving demonstrations will be held on Friday and Saturday, courtesy of Paul Swift and his world-famous team. His trio of Ford Fiestas will also be performing at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday 1st December.
Visitors will have access to the rally teams servicing their cars, including the works Ford, Citroën, Subaru and new Suzuki teams. Wales Rally GB has received its biggest entry since 2000, and the largest of the entire 16-round 2007 FIA World Rally Championship, which ensures there will be plenty to see, and hours to see it. There will also be a large trade area with rally merchandise, hot food and bar area, while on water there will be ViperJet boat demonstrations in Prince Of Wales Dock.
All this at the spectator-friendly SA1 waterfront complex, situated within comfortable walking distance from Swansea’s many hotels, restaurants and shopping areas.
Tickets for the SA1 Service Park, giving a full day’s access to all the entertainment, can be bought on the gate and cost just £5 for adults and £2.50 for children.
