But world-class sport can be affordable says Wales Rally GB boss. Many believe that British families are being priced out of watching their football team play live. But Andrew Coe, chief executive of Wales Rally GB (WRGB) says world-class sport need not be so costly, as he announces that Wales Rally GB will be keeping ticket prices low again for 2007.
The UK plays host to some of the greatest sporting events, attracting spectators from across the world. Yet, as most parents know, family days out can be expensive – and seeing world class sportsmen, live, is not an every day occurrence, so where can families turn to for world class sporting entertainment on our doorstep?

According to Andrew Coe, chief executive of Wales Rally GB (WRGB), the most attractive option available this year will be the British round of the World Rally Championship - Wales Rally GB, to be held from 29th November to 2nd December 2007.

“Wales Rally GB is committed to keeping sport accessible to everyone and we have worked hard to keep all our ticket prices low, with no increases on 2006 prices wherever possible,” said Coe.

“We want to do everything we can to encourage people to come and enjoy one of the pinnacles of world motorsport,” he continued. “Particularly because this year, in addition to be the final round of the FIA World Rally Championship the rally will celebrate the 75th anniversary of the first ever running of this iconic event,  previously known as the RAC International Rally of Great Britain.”

Wales Rally GB 2007 will provide spectators with four days of thrilling, world-class motorsport action, set in some of Britain’s most breathtaking countryside, as well as at the biggest sports arena in Wales – the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff. By keeping ticket prices to a minimum, WRGB aims to attract both old and new rally fans and with a raft of celebratory events to mark the 75th anniversary, all spectators will be sure of a unique rally experience.”

To see the world’s rally legends revving up in the Millennium Stadium on Saturday 1st December will cost a family of four from just £27. Also for 2007, the stunning new SA1 Swansea Waterfront development at Swansea Bay will play host to WRGB’s service park for the first time. Moving from its previous out of town location, the new waterfront site will bring the buzz of the service park and excitement of getting up close to the cars right into Swansea city centre, and spectators can pick up tickets for the amazing price of just £5 per adult or £2.50 for kids.

Wales Rally GB 2007 will be centred on Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium. This unique setting will act as host to one of 17 rally stages for the cars to tackle, taking place on the Saturday evening, as well as hosting the official start on Thursday evening. From there, the event will head out to the rugged challenge of the Welsh forests, before returning to Cardiff for the finish outside Cardiff City Hall on the Sunday afternoon. Keen spectators that don’t want to miss a day of the rally can purchase a World Rally Pass for £90 – a snip if you consider that watching many other live motorsport events can cost many times this amount per person these days.

“We are lucky enough to have world-leading sporting events here in the UK and we are keen for people to be able to enjoy them, not from their armchair but from a seat in the stands, where the tension and excitement can be experienced by the whole family,” concludes Coe.

Ends.
