Stage Flash SS10 - Crychan 2 - Driver Comments
Did you know:
That Ford has had the most victories in Wales Rally GB (total 11)

Leg: 2
Flash No: 13
Special Stage: SS10 Crychan 2
Distance: 19.56Km
Weather: Wet
Road Conditions: Slippy, muddy

1: Sebastien Loeb/Daniel Elena
“Yes, it’s very slippery in there, but that’s okay. I had no real problems, but there are some big stones being pulled out and ruts developing. But as long as there’s no fog or rain, that’s good.”

2: Dani Sordo/Marc Marti
“It’s very difficult to stay on the road. It’s a lot slower and slippier the second time through that one.”

4: Mikko Hirvonen/Jarmo Lehtinen
“Yeah, I am more happy with that time. But, for sure, Marcus is pushing now. I can see his tracks and he is really pushing. Maybe he has one more chance to go flat out and put pressure on me. He will want to see if I can keep it on the road.”

5: Manfred Stohl/Ilka Minor
“It was very slippery in there – there’s a lot of surface mud. There were rocks too, but I avoided the worst of them.”

7: Petter Solberg/Philip Mills
Arrived at stage finish with smoke or steam emerging from bonnet and exhaust. He said: “It could be oil or water – we don’t know what’s wrong just yet.”

8: Chris Atkinson/Stephane Prevot
“Matthew Wilson is quicker than me – that’s the way it is. I’m doing all I can do – I’m driving my backside off. I just can’t go any faster.”

9: Jari-Matti Latvala/Miika Antilla
“This morning was very good, but this afternoon is a little harder. I made some small mistakes in there that cost me a few seconds, but we can make them up.”

10: Henning Solberg/Cato Menkerund
“Everything is okay. I’m enjoying myself. I was 90: Wayne Radford/Paul Drew degrees to the apex at the flying finish. I’ve seen lots of Norwegians, who seem to be enjoying seeing an orange car.”

11: Luis Perez Companc/Jose Maria Volta
“It’s a little bit worse than the first time through there. There are more rocks and it’s a bit slippier.”

12: Federico Villagra/Jorge Perez Companc
“It’s getting very rough. There are some rocks in teh road and some very rough places.”

16: Matthew Wilson/Michael Orr
“It’s quite slippy and rutted in there. I made a couple of mistakes. You never know what is going to happen when it gets dark later on.”

17: Xavier Pons/Xavier Amigo
“I think I have a puncture on the left-hand side, although I’m not sure as the car still feels reasonably good.” Note: there was no visible sign of a puncture.

18: Jan Kopecky/Filip Schovanek
“I think Mads Ostberg will get ahead of me this afternoon, as he has more experience of gravel and his car is perhaps working a little better.”

20: Mads Ostberg/Ole Kristian Unnerud
“That stage wasn’t too bad, but I think I’m on the wrong tyres. Still, I’m here to learn, so I’m happy enough. I want to get by Jan Kopecky in this afternoon’s stages.”

22: Gareth Jones/David Moynihan
“It’s much rougher and slippier than I expected – I’m surprised how bad it is. But on the whole I’m happy – we’re in a groove now.”

23: Mark van Eldik/Michael Groenewoud
“It’s a bit rough, but nothing special.”
