Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen won the Rally of Poland and now move into a one point lead of the FIA World Rally Championship, with four rounds remaining.

The FIA World Motor Sports Council have today, Wednesday 24th June, ratified the 2010 FIA World Rally Championship calendar and Wales Rally GB is confirmed as the 13th and final round.


The 66th running of this event, which first ran in 1932, is scheduled to run from 12th to 14th November.


Details of the Start, competitive route and Finish locations will be confirmed in due course.

Mikko Hirvonen and Jarmo Lehtinen were convincing winners of the 56th edition of the Acropolis Rally of Greece in their BP Abu Dhabi World Rally Team Ford Focus WRC, earning Ford their 70th world rally victory. Ford’s dominance of this classic WRC event was further endorsed by the team’s seventh win in the past 10 years.

The Motor Sports Association, governing body of UK motor sport, has today confirmed its commitment to the UK's round of the 2009 FIA World Rally Championship by agreeing to underwrite the cost of running the 2009 Rally of Great Britain that will be held in Wales from October 22nd to 25th.

Wales Rally GB (WRGB), Britain’s iconic round of the World Rally Championship (WRC), has been confirmed as the final round of the new 2010 WRC calendar, to be ratified by the FIA later this month. The decision should lay to rest the concerns of the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG), which recently served notice of its intention to terminate its sponsorship contract because of uncertainty over the event’s status in 2010.
