Wales Rally GB will host part of TRICO’s 90th Anniversary celebrations this year, as the Pontypool-based company is the first major Welsh business to sign up to the event’s new bespoke hospitality package.
Founded in 1917, TRICO is the industry leader and global innovator of wiper products. It is bringing its European clients to the final round of this year’s FIA World Rally Championship not just to celebrate nine decades of productivity, but to strengthen business relationships and make new ones – as Wales Rally GB offers solid business-to-business opportunities within the Welsh automotive sector.

TRICO, a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of integrated wiper systems with design centres and factories in the U.S., Mexico, Europe, Latin America and Asia, will take guests to the Rally Experience at Walters Arena. On Saturday 1st December, they will go to the spectacular Halfway Stage and then into the Millennium Stadium for the Cardiff Stage – where they will enjoy private dining, premier Gold seating and the best views of the all-action entertainment, which will feature a mouth-watering display of bravery and skill on four wheels, a parade of iconic drivers and cars from the past 75 years and the world’s best rally drivers competing on the only indoor special stage in the FIA World Rally Championship.

Since Cardiff first hosted Wales Rally GB in 2000, the event has developed into a major business arena for the Welsh automotive industry.  The Welsh Assembly Government has been the title sponsor of Wales Rally GB since 2003, bring with it government backing and world-wide business opportunities.

Ieuan Wyn Jones, Deputy First Minister of the Assembly and the Welsh Assembly Government minister for Economic Development and Transport, said: “Wales Rally GB annually brings in £3.3M to the Welsh economy and the global business opportunities that such a world class event coming to Wales offers should not be underestimated.  I am delighted that TRICO is using this year’s rally for solid business reasons and I believe that other Welsh businesses would gain a lot from being involved with Wales Rally GB.”

Lisa Nichols, marketing manager for TRICO Products Europe, said: “Celebrating TRICO’s 90th anniversary with our customers has been a key objective for this year, enabling us to thank customers for their continuing support whilst strengthening relationships and building business. To be able to do this within the South Wales area and with a prestigious automotive event such as Wales Rally GB is very exciting for us and our clients and we look forward to continuing our partnership with the event in years to come.”

Andrew Coe, Chief Executive of International Motor Sport (IMS), organisers of Wales Rally GB, said: “In addition to putting on a world class sporting event, one of our key objectives in the last five years has been to develop Wales Rally GB as an opportunity for Welsh automotive businesses to see a world class event in Wales and for them to benefit from the networking opportunities the rally creates. The rally brings global automotive companies and business people to Wales and Welsh business need to make the best use of this opportunity. It’s an ever growing network and we are delighted TRICO is using this year’s Wales Rally GB to entertain their European clients.”
