Car Park G Dixies Overview
Car Park G opens at 18.00 on Friday 5th December The cars can be seen as they turn sharp right over a cattle grid to leave the forest section.
F and G are the most popular of the Mid Wales car parks, understandably given the variety of viewing available within short walking distance and the ease of access off the A40. In car park G, near the head of the car park approximately 3km from the entrance, the parking splits into two sections taking you to entirely different viewing on the Epynt Military gravel roads.

Car Park G viewing areas
V1 Head towards Dixies and park as close as possible ( note the last 600m are reserved for Disabled and official vehicles). Then walk straight on following the marked path, until stage the turns into Halfway Forest.
V2 This is an extension of V1 and offers exceptional views of typical Forestry Commission roads with fast sweeping bends and deep ‘hooking’ ditches.
V3 A viewing area extending for almost 3km finishing with the famous Dixies Crossing (a jump across a tarmac road) landing on gravel the other side. Always spectacular, this year promises to be even more so with the route being run in the reverse direction from 2007.
V4 By taking the parking area right before reaching Dixies, you will arrive at a viewing area approximately 1km long with a tight hairpin junction. Weather permitting you will be able to see the competitors cross the valley for well over 3km after leaving the hairpin.
V5 Although within the forest section of Halfway, this point is in fact accessed from car park G. It involves a walk of about 800m along a footpath but is well worthwhile when you get there. It is on a sloping bank from where, weather permitting, you can see cars in the valley shortly before the stage finish and, thanks to recent tree felling, they are in your vision for almost 1km.
